HENNING
OHLENBUSCH
HENNING'S SCHOOL FOR THE DEAD |
Recorded in a stifling,
oxygen-deficient attic (aka Destructopuss Studios) in the dead of a
sweltering August 2000, the sweaty essence of Henning permeates this
remarkable album. Here is Ohlenbusch creating the zestiest new-wave
track not recorded in the '80s itself in "V-66," or writing an adorably
chirpy "Sitcom Theme" of his own. And when he's not winning over listeners
with his lush one-man band approach in the studio, he's deftly showing
off his reflective side via influences like Sam Phillips and Paul "Al"
Simon in the process. Good from start to finish, this CD would sit well
with fans of XTC, etc. Nice job.
