REHAB MASSACHUSETTS

About

Picture
Rehab Massachusetts exists in only one form, the album Twelve Steps.  Songwriter Thane Thomsen (Goldwater, The Figments) assembled a remarkable band to help him bring this well-thought-out, painstakingly crafted project to light.  Terry Flood and Scott Hall of Drunk Stuntmen,  Kevin O'Rourke of Lo Fine, Bruce Tull of Scud Mountain Boys, and our very own Brian Marchese propel Thomsen's honest songs and plaintive voice as though they are part of his acoustic guitar.

The listener is taken on a journey through all twelve steps of the recovery program.  Expect to roller-coaster through optimism, heart-break, frustration, celebration, resolution, and pleading.  And that's just on the first song.

Recorded masterfully by Mark Alan Miller at Slaughterhouse Studios and by Bruce Tull at the Woodmont (with piano off location), the record holds together as a single piece, with pedal steel, acoustic piano, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, bass, and harmonies.  Recommended for a November drive in New England.

In Thomsen's own simple words: "This is a concept record based on the 12 step recovery program. Each song is based on a step, and the whole album tells a story. This is a work of fiction."
